Cerium oxide is used in ceramics, glass, stone polishing, and as a solid electrolyte in fuel cells.
It can also be used as a co-catalyst in many reactions.
It is used as an antioxidant and in the production of hydrogen through water splitting.
In self-cleaning ovens, it is used as a high-temperature hydrocarbon oxidation catalyst.
In combination with other materials, it can be used in infrared filters, incandescent mantles, sunscreens, as a catalyst carrier, and for sensitizing photosensitive glass.
